Production
Almond in Spain
In the last years we are witnessing a deep shift in the sector with increases of: number of irrigated plantations, varieties classified as of new generation, plantations with an extensive area and a highly professionalized management, etc… All this will result in a significant increase in the production of almond in Spain.
For this reason, a significant number of traditional rain-fed plantations are reconverting to ecological growth, in order to attend the growing demand of a market willing to pay the price for an organic product, in an increasingly competitive environment.
These are plantations with traditional varieties as Marcona, Largueta and Valencias and, in the last decades, with a growing burden of varieties such as Guara, Ferragnes and Constanti.
